HOT HOT HOT

I am seriously over all this heat!

Living in the desert of Southern AZ can really be crazy when it comes to our weather during the summer! The winter well it is perfect but right now I am serious I need some relief!
Last week the Temperatures ranged from 105-108 almost every day!

At least we do get some monsoon rains but they normally end up in flooding as well. Check it out!

105 Degrees! - Seriously!

It has been over a 100 degrees the last 3 days and today is pretty much looking to be about the same. Yesterday - They forecasted 105, I am not sure what it actually hit because once you hit 100 it really doesn't seem to matter! I know what you people are thinking, It is Arizona, it is a dry heat!

All I can say is - WHATEVER!

OK, so I wanted to give you a little example of what I do when it hits 100. This is my, It is over 100 degrees and I don't really care what you think, I want to be cute but I am miserable, LOOK.

** OK so I am terrible at taking self-pics and excuse my bathroom**

When it is over 100 I go with as little make-up as possible. It just melts right off and I have terrible skin to start with. Today's look, dab of concealer under the eyes, light dusting of powder, some mascara and a little lip gloss. Dang, I look tired in this pic - maybe I should have opted for a little more make up? oh well. (excuse my towels in the background - remember how I always try to save energy, yep gonna reuse those babies tomorrow!)

Sunglasses are a must! If is over a 100 you know that sun is blazing and you need good eye protection to protect your eyes.  Notice the hair? I totally admit this isn't my best look but I have VERY long hair and in this type of heat it just kills me. So after my shower I did a quick 60 second blow out of my roots and then took my damp hair and wrapped in knot in the back, put a few clips in the sides and put a head band on. This is neat, secured and ready to face 100 degrees!

I get you can't see me very well (probably for the better) but because I am so dang short I had to stand on the tub to take the pic lol, I was just praying I didn't fall backwards, how I would I explain that to the hubby? I am lucky that I work somewhere that we have a very relaxed dress code even though we are a pretty professional place to work. So with this heat, I am wearing some of my breathable workout gear.

I would love to hear what you do when it gets scorching HOT!

Sick Time? No Such Thing

I always joke there is a difference in a mom cold and a dad cold. And all you moms out there I am sure can guess the difference. When we get sick there really is not down time. Well this time I have no choice.

The last week and a half I have been pretty sick. But I kept chugging on. As I look back I actually have been having symptoms for about a month or two but because they weren't anything major I thought I was just tired or in a slump so I kept chugging on.

I do have asthma so I was thinking I was just having problems with my asthma and I had maybe some allergies and cold stuff going on but I figured the cough would go away. I was really tired and wanted to be a lazy bum more than normal but I just thought I was tired. After much encouraging from my husband and my sister I ended up going to urgent care.

Yep - that's me getting a breathing treatment at the Dr. She said I sounded junky and she wouldn't let me leave before I had a breathing treatment. (go figure right? I didn't think I sounded bad at all)

OK there is the pile of my junk and my gown - BECAUSE they made me get a chest xray - seriously? I couldn't believe it.  The Dr. told me that she didn't see any pneumonia (thank goodness) and said it must be my asthma really acting up but ordered me to stay home from work the next day so I can get some rest.

Later that night I received a call from the Urgent Care to call them back. I though holy cow seriously. I looked over at my husband and so oh great I bet I have pneumonia, I don't have time for this. (he had been so sweet all night and even had dinner made when I got home from the Dr. !!)

I called urgent care back and they proceeded to inform me that they had someone look at the xray and they had found a nodule in my lung - WTC (that's the clean version - What The Crap! lol) She proceeded to tell me that didn't mean I had lung cancer but probably was Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever) - uh remember my post about my husband collapsing his lung 2 years ago? Well yes they think it was Valley Fever. She proceeded to inform me I needed to come get the xrays first thing in the morning and get into my PCP so they can order a CT Scan (so much for the rest she had ordered me to get just hours before).

I went down to Urgent Care first thing to get the xrays ( I looked at it - there is a 1 cm nodule in my left lung - the report told me that I am not good at reading xrays lol) and then came home because my PCP couldn't get me in the same day. I was so upset -seriously people I have a nodule in my lung!!!! They only aren't as urgent about it because it isn't their lung!

But these two sweet babies kept me company ALL day while I sat on the couch with my feather pillow, computer, and my marathon of Twilight Movies!

Everyone needs the essentials when you are sick. Large Sonic Cherry Coke (an absolute MUST!), tissues, you nebulizer and medicines, laptop and of course your wallet so you can online shop!

I filled my day with Edward, Bella, and Jacob! And lots of sleep of course!

For now we keep waiting. I finally got into my PCP, had blood work, and now await my CT scan some time this upcoming week. Although I don't want Valley Fever the alternative with having a nodule in your lung isn't good. Keeping my fingers crossed, putting my trust in the Lord, and knowing he has a plan for me. (I'm pretty sure it is Valley Fever, I have so many of the symptoms.)

I will keep living my life, trying to rest and get some energy back and loving my family! I will update my blog as soon as I know what in the world all this craziness is!

Two Peas in a Pod

Remember when you were a kid and you had your brother or sister and you just thought one minute they were the worst person and then the next minute what would you do without them? Well I have an older sister and there were many times I thought me might not make it out of our teen years without killing each other. One time when I was really little she made me eat a bar of soap (gag), there were many screaming battles with each other.

However, the older we get the closer I think  know we are. Since I turned 18 we pretty much haven't lived in the same area, pretty much not even the same state. The first several years she was in college and I was living the young married life so we didn't get to talk too much. Then we both started having babies. One a year for 4 years.

We probably talk almost every single day at least once, on the phone, via text, or email. Back in the fall we were planning a girls weekend to Scottsdale with some girlfriends and we were able to get her flown out from Kentucky to spend some time together. One of my other friends (Tess) went with us and we had a blast.

Brooke flew into Tucson and got to spend almost 2 days seeing my kids and spending time with Michael and me. And then we headed up to Scottsdale to enjoy some relaxation!

Brooke and my kiddos at our community park

My sis works so hard and she is also going to graduate school while running a household, helping her husband through graduate school and raising to kids herself! I decided since it was girl time we would stop at Ulta and have a makeover and get our brows waxed.

Nice Southern Arizona

I took Brooke down to Tombstone, AZ (yes the REAL Tombstone)

We went to the cemetery in Tombstone which is a must do stop if you ever visit. It's a donation to get in.

My super awesome man took us down to eat some awesome Mexican food! Yummo!  Talk about the real deal, we could see the border from the restaurant. It was delish!

On the way to Scottsdale we first ran into a BIG monsoon and then we ran into this dust storm (for the record I am terrified of dust storms and I was driving)

Our resort

It is so beautiful and the service is unbelievable! And I snagged a super good deal on priceline for $50.00/night

Living the life!

We headed out for some awesome Japanese food and entertainment at Benihana's

Ever hear of Sprinkles? Well Brooke hadn't - so we had to make a stop!

They are unbelievably delicious!

This was how my sister started her relaxing mornings.

What's vacation without heading to the casino and checking out their awesome food!

Oh yeah did I mention we stopped to get pedis?

I told everyone to step outside the box and go for a crazy color!

More yummy goodies at the casino

This is me at Dave and Busters - super good food and fabulous games!

We had a great weekend! I had to take her to the airport and drop her off and I sobbed teared up as we said bye. It has been 6 months since I have seen my sister. I hate living so far away but I am grateful for technology and the fact we get to talk and provide support to one another. I can't wait till June when I get to see her again!

I hope each of you have a brother or sister that you get to experience life with as I do!
