105 Degrees! - Seriously!

It has been over a 100 degrees the last 3 days and today is pretty much looking to be about the same. Yesterday - They forecasted 105, I am not sure what it actually hit because once you hit 100 it really doesn't seem to matter! I know what you people are thinking, It is Arizona, it is a dry heat!

All I can say is - WHATEVER!

OK, so I wanted to give you a little example of what I do when it hits 100. This is my, It is over 100 degrees and I don't really care what you think, I want to be cute but I am miserable, LOOK.

** OK so I am terrible at taking self-pics and excuse my bathroom**

When it is over 100 I go with as little make-up as possible. It just melts right off and I have terrible skin to start with. Today's look, dab of concealer under the eyes, light dusting of powder, some mascara and a little lip gloss. Dang, I look tired in this pic - maybe I should have opted for a little more make up? oh well. (excuse my towels in the background - remember how I always try to save energy, yep gonna reuse those babies tomorrow!)

Sunglasses are a must! If is over a 100 you know that sun is blazing and you need good eye protection to protect your eyes.  Notice the hair? I totally admit this isn't my best look but I have VERY long hair and in this type of heat it just kills me. So after my shower I did a quick 60 second blow out of my roots and then took my damp hair and wrapped in knot in the back, put a few clips in the sides and put a head band on. This is neat, secured and ready to face 100 degrees!

I get you can't see me very well (probably for the better) but because I am so dang short I had to stand on the tub to take the pic lol, I was just praying I didn't fall backwards, how I would I explain that to the hubby? I am lucky that I work somewhere that we have a very relaxed dress code even though we are a pretty professional place to work. So with this heat, I am wearing some of my breathable workout gear.

I would love to hear what you do when it gets scorching HOT!

Proud Mama!

Hey all you proud Mamas out there!
You know how it is when you are so proud of your kiddos! I just love them so much!

** Disclaimer - There are LOTS of pics** I hope you enjoy!

They started out like this!
Sweet Baby Cody when he was about 5 months old

Sweet Baby Haley when she was just a few days old!

Oh my sweet babies

We have just now finished up another school year! And what a school year it was I though it was never going to get here and this has been the slice my wrists craziest year yet!

I often struggle with guilt being a working mom. I wish more than anything I had a work schedule that allowed me to be here when the kids are leaving and be here waiting on them when they walk in the door. But unfortunately I don't. I am lucky that my work is pretty flexible and I get more time at home than many working moms so I try to count my blessings!

Hubby and I try really hard to make a point to get to do something with the kids at their school. This year we both were super lucky to get to be part of a thing or too.  Here is this years recap!

Haley's Field Trip! Can you believe hubby got to go? He did - what a SWEET Daddy! They went to a local pumpkin patch.
(I Wish I had a picture!)

Then I go to go on Cody's field trip the next week! We went to a science and math conference.

Yes - that is a real human brain he is holding in his hands.

Powering the lights by riding the bike

I was lucky enough to stop by Cody's field day on my way to work one day! I haven't got to go to his field day in years! I was the ONLY crazy parent there.  It was great! He said he didn't want me to leave.
OK my child is somewhere in there. Didn't look fun to me!

I gave Cody the stumpy jeans! He is the short one in the black shirt

I was a sweet momma and shared my water!

Cody and his friend (which ended up with a split open chin and was taken out in a wheel chair!)

Goofy boys!

Love him (:

Balloon toss - oh yeah!

This year is a BIG year for us! Haley is promoting to middle school! So once again and for the last time we headed out to 5th grade promotion.

I always get teary and of course my hubby and Cody always look at me like I have a horn growing out of my head but I can't help it! Where has time gone? They are growing up so quickly! I am so proud of them both but I remember when I could snuggle them in my arms!

I have to say that both of my kids have had some of the best teachers ever this year!  Both of my kids had the same 5th grade teacher and she said what is she going to do now that the Lawson Era is over? maybe take a deep sigh of relief?

Hey Gorgeous Haley! Getting ready to no longer be a 5th grader!

Cody's last day of school!

Haley's teacher, Miss Cronk

Oh! What can I say! My Loves!!
Miss Cronk! You are an amazing 5th grade teacher! You have the unique ability to see the strengths in all your kids and use those to build each kid up and make them feel so important!
I am so honored and feel blessed that you have taught both of my kids! We will miss having you as a teacher! But remember... If I ever win the lottery.....
Awesome teacher!

Come on doesn't she look like fun?

Miss Cronk at field day! We will miss you!

Mrs. Aken! You are an amazing teacher, mom, and woman! You do it all! I know this year has been a doozy! You have continued to see the positives in my child when many times some times it was hard to see. You make science so much fun and cool! Your animals are awesome and it was our pleasure to dragon sit over spring break for the bearded dragon! You are such a hard working Christian woman! You continue to better yourself through going to school after you  have taught school all day! You are amazing and no wonder your kids have turned out awesome! Thank you for everything and for all of your support! I am super happy that my other kiddo will be having you next year for science! Look out!

She looks like fun huh? She is a hoot!

Many of Cody's teachers on his 7th/8th grade team this year! Amazing women!

Don't you wish your teachers had fun like this?

An Amazing woman! Mrs. Aken you Rock! (this is her snake - which by the way escaped out of it's cage like Houdini - I hope you find it!)

"A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank...but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child." -- Forest Witcraft

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
Cody and Haley - I love you both and I am so proud of you!

Searching for the Perfect Gift for your Mom!

Have you thought about what you are getting your Mom for Mother's Day?

We never know the love of the parent until we become parents ourselves.
Inspirational Quotes on Mothers Day by: Henry Ward Beecher

I have the perfect awesome gift and it is the gift that keeps on giving!

Give your mom, your grandmother, your auntie, whomever something to make them feel great about themselves and to be pampered!

Enfuselle (R) Advanced Skin Care  is a great gift to give your mom so she can pamper herself! The products feel so great on your skin!

One of my person favorites is the  C+E Repair P.M. (R) - I personally saw a big difference in my fine lines and my skin felt like silk when I used it! I can't wait to buy my next tube because I am a big believer and trust me - I am super sensitive about my skin.

When I use the C+E Repair P.M. (R) I feel so revived and refreshed - no joke!

HaHaHa! I know I act like a dork but in all seriousness people! I love this stuff! I have tried LOTS of skin care products and this is the best thing I have ever used for fine lines and wrinkles. AND no parabens which makes me totally one HAPPY woman!

And you know what they say - If Momma Ain't Happy Nobody's Happy!

I love the Shower Gel and the Purifying Shampoo and Replenishing Conditioner.  The smell is so light and refreshing, it's just what I want on a Spring and Summer day! Nothing too heavy!

OK, I know I said it is the gift that keeps on giving. Because right now Shaklee is currently running a special that if you spend $30.00 the membership fee is waived. AND there are never any minimums ever. So you can get your mom an AWESOME gift and the opportunity for her to try new products at member price with no cost to her! And she has no minimums to maintain her membership.

So get something for your mom! Get something for yourself! Get Pampered!

Shaklee isn't just about cleaning! This is a company that is about healthy living, nutrition, healthy homes, and a healthy earth!

They are the #1 Nutrition company in the U.S.

STREP!!!

Being a Mom, Being a working Mom, Being a working mom with husband gone to training.... This is how it goes and does seem to always happen like this. Yesterday Haley and I both weren't feeling the best. I sucked it up this morning and went to work. Haley didn't feel great but then perked up through the day. I came home and was so glad to lay down and be a bum on the couch.

At 7:16 pm. Haley tells me she think she has strep. Really? Are you sure? How bad does it hurt? Seriously? I am running through the list of questions. Is it because I am lazy? I am tired? Am I a bad mom? Well in my gut I decided to go ahead and take her. I mean we have the same symptoms but I didn't feel strep like. But she said really mom, my head and neck hurt I know I have strep. We got dressed, packed up, set the DVR and headed out to urgent care.

Heading out with the pillow and the dankie (both my kids have dankies - they love them and when they are sick they still take them with them...most of the time).

My poor baby!

Waiting.....

More Waiting.... and I am TIRED and don't look feel good at all!

Having fun and protection - not a bad idea right?

Well she was totally right! Strep it is! BOOOO!! I am so glad I listened to her and listened to my instinct to take her tonight. As I type this her fever is now 101.2 big boo because she took meds over an hour ago. As the time ticks by I seem to be going down hill but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

After the Dr. we headed out to Walgreen's to get her meds. We scoped out all the cool stuff they had and I looked for tear off coupons (because if you have read some of my other posts you know I will get coupons any way I can). While I was there I finally caved in to buy a new thermometer. Exergen Temporal Scanner Infrared Thermometer Yep - I caved in and got one of these really cool slide it across your head thermometer. I swear it is the best thing ever! It is worth every penny. Where were these things when we were kids and all they had were rectal thermometers? LOL But seriously this thing is quick and easy. I am not as good as the nurses but we are getting the hang of it and it takes like 2 seconds.

So wish us well. I am getting off of here to try to drag my behind up the stairs and into my bed. I am guessing hoping I can work from home tomorrow. I hate having to take sick days especially when I took a scheduled one last week to take the kids to a bunch of appointments. But what do you do? I mean my kids DO come first, it is such a struggle having to tell your boss you need to take another sick day or say hey can I work from home?

I remind myself that in 2 years, 5 years whatever will my work suffer in any way or even remember that I had to take the day off? Or will my kids remember that I wasn't there when they really wanted me to be because they didn't feel good or they wanted to share something special with me? I know which it is and that is why I will be staying home tomorrow.
